What Happens on Community Day
Our community meets in Grimes on Fridays, Gloria Domini families come together for a day of shared learning, fellowship, and growth.
Morning Assembly - Symposium (30 min) We begin united in worship and reflection—singing hymns, memorizing Scripture, and sharing insights. Families contribute weekly, fostering encouragement across all ages.
Lower School (PreK-6th) - Grammatica Theme: Faithful in Little, Faithful in Much Students in the grammar stage build a foundation of knowledge through memory work, science experiments, fine arts, and weekly presentations. This stage emphasizes joy, repetition, and confidence, preparing them for deeper study ahead.
Afternoon Program (3rd-6th) - Fundamentum Theme: Diligence Leads to Mastery Older grammar students strengthen writing and grammar skills, practice editing, and engage in introductory Latin study. Fundamentum 2 also engages in monthly book discussions. The year culminates in projects such as Faces of History, combining research, writing, and performance.
Upper School (7th-12th) - Colloquium Themes: Ordered to Learn → Seeking Understanding → Standing Firm → Faithful in Much Students in the dialectic and rhetoric stages dive into discussion, debate, philosophy, and integrated studies. Latin remains the cornerstone, joined by science, literature, history, and mathematics. As they progress, students grow in critical thinking, eloquence, and wisdom, preparing for leadership and service.
Capstone Projects Each level completes a culminating project—such as science fairs, mock trials, debates, research papers, or a senior thesis—showcasing mastery and maturity in both thought and presentation. Community Day blends academics with fellowship, guiding students from memorization to mastery, and ultimately toward wisdom, virtue, and readiness for God’s calling.
